Halitosis and its Psychosocial Effects Among Patients Reporting at Dental out Patients Department: A Neglected Oral Health Issue in Pakistan

Objective: To assess the burden of halitosis among dental patients and to explore psychosocial factors associated with at Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad. Study Design: Cross sectional study Setting & Duration: was conducted Dental OPD Hospital Hyderabad from March August 2017. Patients presented via convenient sampling technique were selected within duration six months. Methodology: A group 239 subjects included in this simple used obtain data for research. Written consent form taken each subject. Results: Among participants, 115 male 124 female. 81.59% reported experience bad breath.62.50% individuals claimed that having breath had made them less social, 65% respondents said they feared social interaction public events. Conclusion: The most participants halitosis, whether it real or imagined, an effect on patients' marital lives produces psychiatric symptoms such as stress, lack confidence, isolation avoidance gathering.
